This is an incredible trek that takes you well off the tourist trails as you climb out of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and continues over into the valley of Lares, crossing the mountains you have the chance to enjoy spectacular Andean scenery, including lakes and wildlife, and also visit traditional Andean villages and Incan ruins. 

Please note

*Climbing Wayna Picchu costs $65 extra. Not available at the moment  If you would like to climb Huayna Picchu, please let us know as far in advance as possible, because there is a limit per day on the number of people permitted, and we don’t want you to miss out. It is not possible to buy an entrance to Wayna Picchu by itself, so it is important to decide whether or not you would like to climb it. Should you decide too late that you want to climb Wayna Picchu, it will cost another entrance to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu ($65)

Itinerary

We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 am and travel by bus for approximately 2 hours to Calca, where we stop to buy personal supplies; From here we drive 3 hours further to Lares, were we will spend time in the hot springs and have lunch, after that we will begin our hike, after 4 to 5 hours of walking we arrive at our first campsite at Huacahuasi. 

After breakfast we will begin the most challenging day of the hike over the Ipsaycocha Pass at 4350m and then we descend for a half an hour to the Lake Ipsaycocha where we will have lunch, we continue for around 4 hours to arrive at the town of Patacancha where we will set up camp.

After breakfast, we begin making our way to Ollantaytambo and pass through villages such as Huilloc and Pallacta, we will also pass by the Inca sites of Huanacaure and Hatunayaorko.  After having lunch in Ollantaytambo, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes and we will stay the night in a hotel.

We get up very early today to get the first bus up the mountain to Machu Picchu, after a walking tour of the ruins provided by the guide there will be free time to explore Machu Picchu; we need to be back in Aguas Calientes by around 2:30 pm to catch the train back to Cusco.
